Sharing of baseball event through social media
As real-time broadcasting services are becoming more popular, many people are sharing live events with remote users. Despite the success of real-time broadcasting services, a number of restrictions still exist in such enriching the real-time events and indexing them in an automatic and implicit manner. In this paper, we present a social media platform to provide a novel environment for sharing real-time events. The social media platform employs emerging web environment, which is called “Tangible Web,” to provide a new interface for watching realtime events and facilitate the production of socia1 media (e.g. instant chat, MMS, etc) with time and geographic tags. Produced social media enrich a corresponding real-time event and are utilized to index each session of real-time events. To evaluate our platform, a baseball cheering system was implemented and had taken closed beta tests for World Baseball Classic 2009 (WBC 2009) and 2009 championship series of the Korea Baseball Leagues. ...
