Frame Sliced Parallel Signature Files for Fast Colored Image Retrieval
The paper presents a novel approach for searching a very large image database employing frame sliced parallel signature file. Signature files have been proposed and used for retrieval of databases in parallel fashion under the assumption that the main memory is sufficient enough to hold the entire signature file. We propose the use of a parallel frame-sliced signature file method in a parallel environment, when the size of the signature file exceeds the available memory. The implementation uses a binary signature for the images. The proposed technique is compared with the existing indexing techniques. It is observed that it has better performance in terms of response time.
