The Galician virtual library
In this paper we describe the main features of the Galician Virtual Library (BVG) and its development process. The aim of this virtual library is to fill the existing lack of Galician language and literature contents in the Web. It has been developed by the Database Lab, in collaboration with the Galician Language Knowledge Area (included in the Department of Galician-Portuguese and French Philology and Linguistics), both coming from the University of A Coruña. The BVG presents a number of features, which make it a pioneer virtual library, due to its contents and the strategy followed in its interface design and implementation. It is also a trailblazer virtual library with respect to the services it supplies both to writers and readers. It must be stressed that, despite of its title, the BVG represents not only a virtual library but also a digital publishing company. Keywords. Digital Libraries, User Interfaces to Databases, WWW Interfaces
