Oneof the mostinterestingissuesthat arises in agentsbased onthe BDI(belief-desire-intention)formalismis capturing notionsof realism,that is constraintsthat describepossible interrelationshipsbetweenthe threeattitudes. Threesuchsets of constraintshavebeenconsideredin the literature: strong realism, realismandweakrealism.In this paperwepropose notionsof realismfor heterogeneousBDIagentsandin particular weexplorewhatwecall bold agents. Weinterpret boldBDIagentsas agentsthat are willingto takerisks, and thusadoptintentionseventhoughtheymaynotbelievein all respectiveaccessibleworldsthat theseare achievable.
