Incorporating SystemC in Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Flow
In today’s flows, there is still a gap between system level description and hardware implementation, especially for analog/RF building blocks. SystemC-AMS or co-simulations have been described in the literature as possible ways to bridge that gap. In a co-simulation, two r kernels interact with each other, possibly at different levels of abstraction. Usually, each abstraction is modeled in a different language and environment. SystemC-AMS, on the contrary, is a single-language approach and focuses on simulating analog/RF continuous-time models at system level. This contribution outlines a third concept of interfacing SystemC with analog/RF hardware description and transistor level implementation. It focuses on a schematicdriven flow, which is useful to analog/RF designers who preferably work with GUI-based environments, waveform viewers, and do not want to border much with system level languages, such as SystemC.
