A Message Board Client for handheld devices
The need to develop portable applications for hand-held devices is growing rapidly. The proliferation of handheld devices such as cellular telephones and Personal Digital Assistants is driving this demand. As a case study, this paper examines the use of Sun Microsystems’s Java 2 Micro Edition to develop a Message Board Client for the Palm operating system. This paper highlights lessons learned in developing a communications application for handheld devices. The lessons learned include an examination of tool support, limited communications support and human-computer interaction issues. Categories and Subject Descriptors
