A metamodeling architecture and a domain-specific ontology for a biological image database
Abstract: Coupling of metamodeling architectures and ontologies for domain descriptions is widely discussed in information system engineering research groups. Here we present the first steps towards applying such a coupling for engineering of a Xenopus application. The Xenopus image application was to be built from an image collection, in which each image or group of images is associated with a large amount of metadata. We used a domain-specific ontology for a feature extraction in the Xenopus application. This ontology's role is currently extended towards a comprehensive coupling with a metamodel architecture.
