Towards a hierarchical design and integration of programming projects

,’ Theideaof ahierarchicaldesignandintegrationof programming projectsin the computerscienceundergraduatecurriculum is proposedanddiscussed.Researchresultsin softwarereuseandobject-orienteddesignanddevelopmentmay beusedin thedesignandthedevelopmentof thesetof inte gratedprogrammingprojects. By ahierarchical designand integration of programmingprojects,this approachaimsto increasethe effectivenessof theundergraduatelearning experience.IJsingtheapproach,programmingprojectsin computer sciencecoursesmay be developedin sucha way that programmingprojectsin thelower level coursesareusedas components(parts)to implementprogrammingprojectsin thehigher level courses. In this way, a hierarchical structure of programmingprojectscanbe.built and a student’s programmingprojectsin differentcoursescanbeintegrated. Suchanintegrationmayleadtothedevelopmentof complex softwaresystemsin thesenioryear.
