MCF: A Metamodeling-based Visual Component Composition Framework
Reusing IP-cores to construct system models facilitated by automated generation of glue-logic, and automated composability checks can help designers to create efficient simulation models quickly and correctly for fast design space exploration. With the rise of multiple transaction level (TL), and register-transfer TL) abstractions, constructing models with mixed abstraction levels is also important for designers. A framework that allows designers to (i) describe the components and their interactions with a semantically rich visual frontend, (ii) automated selection of IPs based on sound type theoretic principles, and (iii) constraint based checks for composability is highly desirable in this context. A metamodel based framework brings forth further advantages.
