This paper describes the design and development of an application used to determine the most suitable way in which to pack a large quantity of small manufactured product items onto pallets for transportation. A novel constraint-based technique is used in the optimisation to allow for ﬂexible speciﬁcation of optimisation goals and ranking of solutions.
