Data Mining with Distributed Agents in E-Commerce Applications
In this paperwedescribe the prototypeof a yellowpageservice for customersin a distributed cyber-shoppingmall. This application combines distributed data miningwith agent technologies. Thepaper focuses on a frameworkto support distributed data mining. Data mining approaches havedealt withfinding interesting patterns, however, there is little researchondevelopinga frameworkfor effective and efficient distributed data mining. Ourapproachto providing such a frameworkcombinesa concept hierarchy and an efficient, distributed encodingof that concepthierarchy with existing data mining methods. This marriageresults in a newdistributed data representation for data mining, called CombinedHierarchical Set (CHS).CHSprovides a frameworkfor knowledgediscoveryincludingdiscoveryof generalized associations, aggregatedassociations, and combinedassociations.
