A Quality Model for Evaluating Feature Models
This paper presents work in progress to construct a model for guiding and evaluating the quality of featureoriented models, called FMQ. Product line concepts are becoming increasingly attractive for a wider user base, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are resource sensitive and FMQ intends to bring this user base a way of efficiently directing the efforts of understanding the commonality and variability of their products. This is done by applying the notion of quality attributes and measurements to feature models. The quality model is based on establishing essential quality factors, quality attributes, indicators and metrics for feature models and their development. The aim of FMQ is to provide a means of guiding development efforts of feature modeling towards certain quality goals determined for particular contexts and stakeholder perspectives.
