A Case Study for SOA System Rejuvenation
- Complex business service systems, such as SOA system, are prone to suffer from reliability problem. Various legend applications compatible in SOA system make things worse. Software rejuvenation would be a proactive approach against it. However, an apt time point for rejuvenation is left as an open challenge, both due to the dynamics of system workload and due to obscurity about the problems' causes. Meanwhile, the influences of correlations among different tiers and models in the multi-tier system on the rejuvenation effectiveness are significant issues, yet not being considered. This paper proposes a novel approach to counteract these challenges, by exploring the correlations between high-level system metrics and low-level resources-utilized ones. New metric to trigger rejuvenation process has been introduced. And the correlations and influences on the effectiveness of rejuvenation among various level and models of the SOA system, are also studied. The experiment results on a t...
