MoteAODV - An AODV Implementation for TinyOS 2.0
Reliable, inexpensive, on-the-fly networks can be established using mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) technology. Such networks can be used in a wide variety of scenarios ranging from connecting powerful computers to connecting so-called “smart dust” devices. However, the core of MANET technology, the routing protocols, were never designed for the extremely low power devices that are desired for today’s applications. In this paper, we propose a new implementation of the Ad-hoc OnDemand Distance Vector routing protocol (AODV), named MoteAODV, that addresses this shortcoming. In addition, we also introduce an implementation, MoteAODV+AES, which allows for the addressing of security concerns in routing protocols on such limited devices. We also provide performance benchmarks and a comprehensive security analysis of our proposed solutions.
