Abstract In this paper, we compare two spatial multiplexing MIMO-OFDM downlink transmission schemes based on limited feedback: I. Per-chunk user scheduling; II. Zero-forcing receiver processing with per-antenna user scheduling. We use average net throughput and average sum rate as our comparison benchmarks. We show while Scheme II achieves a higher average sum rate over Scheme I, Scheme I has a greater average net throughput. For Scheme I, analytical derivations and a semi-analytical approach are used to obtain the optimum (net throughput maximizing) time-frequency chunk size.
