A Study of Execution Environments for Software Components

Abstract. Software components are deployed into an execution environment before runtime. The execution environment inﬂuences the runtime execution of a component. Therefore, it is important to study existing execution environments for components and learn how they inﬂuence components’ runtime execution. In this paper, we undertake such a study. We show that deploying components into different execution environments may incur runtime conﬂicts, which, however, can be detected before runtime.
