Flow: Statistics, visualization and informatics for flow cytometry
Flow is an open source software application for clinical and experimental researchers to perform exploratory data analysis, clustering and annotation of flow cytometric data. Flow is an extensible system that offers the ease of use commonly found in commercial flow cytometry software packages and the statistical power of academic packages like the R BioConductor project. Goals Users Provide a platform for clinical and laboratory researchers to perform exploratory data analysis, clustering and annotation of flow cytometric data. Developers Provide a plugin framework and API so that the software can be easily extended and customized. Background Flow cytometry is a high throughput method extensively used in both experimental and clinical settings for characterizing cell phenotypes, especially in the disciplines of hematology, immunology and infectious diseases. In flow cytometry, intracellular or cell surface molecules (markers) in a cell population are tagged with one or more fluorescen...
