Object-Oriented Hypermedia Design and J2EE Technology for Web-based Applications
Web-based application development is a difficult task, since these applications include various features, like graphical interfaces, navigational structures, business models, and wireless communications, as well as other issues, such as serving a multitude of users, and the need for shorter development time. To overcome these complexities, it is indispensable to use web-based application designs and software architectures. In this paper, we use a multi-tiered, component based software architecture based on the J2EE technology. This technology separates the different parts of a complex application, and the development time is reduced through the use of components and distributed structure. Unfortunately, the J2EE technology lacks rich hypermedia and navigational structures, and the mapping of prepared designs to components is not carried out properly.
