Diffusion Networks for On-Chip Image Contrast Normalization

A newmethodfornormalizingandquantizingimagesispresented. The method is based oncalculating a local referenceframeforthe imagegray levels. "helevels of the referenceframearecalculated usingbiased diffusions that are linked to the original image. The method isconceivedto be integrated with sensingelementson the imageplane of a camera. Itsmathematicalproperties areanalyzed and its performanceis experimentallydemonstrated. Acircuitalimplementationhasbeen designed,constructedand tested; it consists of a 20 nodes 1-D non-linear resistive grid. Experimentalresults are shown.
